My Award and a few other things...

I received an award from Diane over at Crafty Passions. The Arte y Pico Award. Diane, Thank You so much! :) What a nice compliment! It makes me so happy to know that you enjoy my blog, It's so nice to meet you, I didn't think many people read my blog other then the people from the crochet forums I belong to, when I post my recent crochet projects. lol. I will post more about the award and post the 5 blogs that I am passing the award on to during the week. ( I need time to think about it) But in the mean time feel free to check out Diane's blog and all the other blogs she awarded. Thanks again Diane. You've made my day. ;)

Here are a few pics of the flowers in my yard... I made a mini bird bath the other day, by putting an old terracotta saucer on top of an old planter I wasn't using at the moment, I thought it was a cute idea but I haven't seen any birds drink from it or even notice it for that matter... lol.

My Pug planter..
One of my pugs (Ozzy) decided he wanted to be in the pic with the pug planter.

I love my little "hat bird houses" I was disappointed when no birds even noticed the bird houses.... I pictured adorable little babies being raised in those hats when I hung them up lol. oh well... they are cute anyway even if the birds don't want to use them. lol

Here are my recent crochet projects.

This is the beginning of a giant hexagon afghan, I only have 18 rows so far so I have a ways to go... I'll keep ya posted on my progress.
Here is a Brown and Pink and Cream Baby afghan that I just completed.

I hope you enjoyed my photos.... I will try to update my blog more often now that I know there are people actually reading it besides my sister in law (Hi Mary!!!) Are ya happy now? (She was sick of looking at my old Mother's Day post LOL!!) Check back soon everyone, Now I need to think about who I will pass my award onto... hmmmmm

Have a great weekend!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!

I'm staying around the house this weekend. ( just gardening, crocheting and eating! No cooking or doing laundry though! LOL!) We are going to order out food for Sunday. I don't know what I want to have yet... Probably work on the yard a bit, plant a few more flowers and that. I planted two"Knockout" rose bushes, they are supposed to be easy to grow , we'll see... I've never had luck with anything growing in the past but I'm really into this gardening thing lately. (so I want to give it another try) Our yard is very small though so my space is limited for planting . I'm having alot of fun digging in the dirt though, and it makes me happy to see stuff growing when I go out there. I'm also going to work on my current crochet project ( a blanket for one of my daughters). Here are pics below..

Thanks for stopping by!

Cottage Style Headboards

I LOVE the headboard idea on the cover of this Romantic Country magazine!! It's an older issue #88 that I've had since last year I think. (it doesn't have the month or year on it) I think it is just sooo pretty!!

I want to make a headboard for my queen size bed ! Using either bifold doors or shutters, not sure which yet... Or maybe something else thats unique. I don't have any headboard right now! My room is so small and all of the beds I like have huge head and foot boards (not to mention very expensive) and that would just take up too much room, every inch counts in a tiny room. I started searching online for ideas. I found a couple of ideas online HERE and HERE. I'll probably buy the doors or shutters at Home Depot. Would be nice if I had some old ones laying around here , but I don't. I need to paint my room first . I STILL haven't done that. lol. I've been saying for weeks that I am going to get that done but the weather here in Chicago has been so cold , I just can't seem to get motivated, I just want to stay in bed or on the couch all snuggled up in a blanket reading on the computer or watching tv.

I did find a pretty bedskirt at Garnet Hill that I love. It came in the mail today! It's the Orleans Quilted bedskirt. You can see it HERE. I got it in White! Now, I'm thinking I should have also ordered the Orleans Quilt and Shams in "Blush". See HERE. It's so pretty!! I think I need it! It is on sale.... I should have ordered it when I ordered the bedskirt, but I was trying not to spend too much money. And I thought my hubby might flip when he saw the charge on the bill, I did tell him I was only going to buy a bedskirt. lol. hmmmm I really do want it though....

Well, I better get some work done around here!

Have an awesome day!

Cherubs, or not???

Here is an adorable cherub vase I picked up at the thrift store last week. I love it! It was only $1.95. I can't seem to get a good photo of it, my house is so dark. I've tried turning lights on, opening the blinds all the way up but nothing helps, they always come out bad. Anyway, I wanted to share a pic of it. I have twins so when I spotted it at the thrift store, I thought "Oooh, twin cherubs! how cute!" so I had to get it.
Now, getting to this guy below... Is he a cherub or not??? My daughters saw it out on my shelf and said it was ugly, and that it's NOT a cherub, because cherubs have wings! lol. They said basically it was just an ugly fat naked guy on a couch! lol. NOT a cherub!! So , I ask all of you cherub loving, cherub collecting bloggers, What do you say?? Is he a cherub or not?? Do "all" cherubs have wings?? And is he cute or ugly?? I need your feedback! I thought he was cute when I brought him home but now they have me thinking.... lol. I'm not so sure they know what "cute " is though... they like tattoos and piercings! lol.

Well, the eggs I painted didn't come out too good. I didn't have the right type of brush to put speckles on them so I just tapped my reg brush over them and the brown paint made more of a stringy splatter then perfect little dot splatter on them. Here they are drying "before I tried to speckle them" .
And here are a few pics of them after they are dry in a few different containers.

I don't know what I'll do with the rest of them. :O But it was fun painting them...

Have a great day,
Pattie

Painted Frames and Bird Eggs

I was surfing the net and came across this blog HERE. I love this blog!! They make such awesome stuff!! Wish my husband knew how to use tools and could make something! Mine only knows how to work the remote control! :O I LOVE :L the bird eggs she painted in this post HERE So I decided that I must paint some and put them in cute little jars just like she did! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bird themed items! :L :L :L So thats what the pics are all about, they are pics of the supplies I ordered from HERE. Oh I love those paint colors!! I got the one little jar at the thrift store yesterday, now I need to find a few more different types of containers. I'll post pics when I'm finished with them.
I also bought some wooden bowls and wooden stair spindles from the thrift store yesterday so I can try making something like this HERE. Mine are going to be a bit taller though. I don't know when I'll get to those though, I need to finish some work in my bedroom first. I always start too many projects and then never end up finishing anything. :D

Here is a pic of how those picture frames turned out ! ( I posted a "before" pic of them in my previous post) Here they are spray painted pink! The one in the middle was not in the before pic, I just found it at the thrift store yesterday.

And here they are lying on my bed ! What do you think? I'll post a pic of how they look on the wall after I paint this week. I wanted to get started painting in my bedroom today , got all ready, and the gallon of white paint I had on the basement stairs is gone! :o I have no idea what in the world happened to it! I looked everywhere!!! And now I don't feel like going to the store for more paint today, I'll have to go tomorrow! I want to get it over with so I can work on other things, like fun crafts or painting furniture, just not walls or ceilings!

Have a great day!

Thrift Store Goodies

I found these beautiful Blue dishes at the thrift store yesterday. They look faded in the pic because of the lighting in my house, but they are actually a beautiful shade of blue with a taupe colored vine border. Ahhh... sooooo pretty! I haven't cleaned up anything I'm showing in the pics today , so if they look a little dirty, thats why lol.

It says Longaberger on the bottom, Now, I've heard of Longaberger baskets, I know many women collect them but I didn't know anything about Longaberger dishes, didn't even know there was such a thing.... hehehe. So I get home with them last night and look them up on the net , found some on ebay and they were more expensive then I had hoped. They are a retired pattern that was sold by Longaberger Pottery , I guess at home parties . I found some pieces being sold separate, and even a few 16 pc sets for I think, $250 or maybe even $350 , I don't remember now. I wish I had the mugs or the creamer or sugar set. The creamer & sugar was around $46 or $50. Apparently some of the pieces were given as a hostess gift with home parties when sales were $350 or more. The name of this pattern is "Vintage Vine_Blue Mist) They also came in Cream. I got the big serving bowl for $6.05 , 4 dinner plates for $1.05 each, 4salad plates for 95 cents each and 2 bowls for $1.05 each . Man, if they would have only had 2 more bowls and the mugs I would really be happy. Oh well, Maybe I will find more at a better price then ebay. You never know...

I also found this cake stand for $6.95. I think that was a lot for a thrift store price but I really liked it, so I got it. The prices have really been going up at the thrift stores around here lately. lol.

Got these frames for a couple of bucks, I'm going to take off the backs and take the glass out, paint them all White or maybe even shabby cottage Pink or Aqua, and put them on the wall in my bedroom. I might leave the mirror in the one but the rest will be just the frames. It's a teeny tiny room so I don't really have much wall space or floor space for that matter , when it comes to decorating. So I thought I could use these little frames to dress up the wall. I don't know... we'll see....

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, How does everyone like my blog template? Amber over at Shabbee Chick Designs made it all pretty for me! So if you want to spruce up your blog , Check out her site and send her an email. She is very nice and very reasonably priced.
Speaking of my blog template , that's my latest obsession... The color Robin's egg blue, Aqua, Teal, whatever you want to call it , I LOVE IT!!! Now I want to paint my living room and bathroom and maybe even the kitchen in shades of these colors. lol.

Have a good one,
Pattie
